Bryan Rathouz
Cofounder • Engineering Director

I grew up in my parent’s roadside convenience store, stocking shelves and mopping floors. I didn’t appreciate it at the time, but being raised in a small business gave me a front-row seat to the unique freedoms and stresses that comes with the territory―a space that I now occupy as a co-founder after having spent 17 years in a cube farm.
Ever since I was a kid in the ’90s I’ve had an interest in design and technology. With the web, there’s always something new to learn or experiment with, which is a great fit for my personality. Every day I try to dig a bit deeper into my profession or into one of my other interests, such as science, health, or running.
Running became a regular activity for me in my early 30s, after realizing that sitting in front of a screen all day is detrimental to my mental and physical health. When I started running, 30 seconds was a struggle, but since then I’ve built up to running 5km, 10km, and I’m currently training for a half marathon.
I want to race with everything in me. I want to race with endurance that is strong and passionate, but also patient and wise.

- Happy place: On a trail, exploring the outdoors.
- Unhealthy obsession: Predicting the future.
- Star Trek or Star Wars: Star Trek… it’s only logical.
- You can always find ___ on my desk: A few books in varying states of “readness”.
Everyone should have their mind blown once a day.
